In Finland, civilian volunteer pilots monitor possible wildfires while flying their planes. If they detect smoke in the forest, they start to broadcast a live video stream from a plane window about the situation with their mobile phones.

Pilots have NSC mobile application installed on their phones, and the app is connected to a local fire department wildfire monitoring task. Push one button and the stream from the plane is visible in the operations room and on mobile devices of the managers of the fire department. Distraction from flying the plane is minimal.

The source of the video stream appears on the map and the pilot can use PTT (Push-To-Talk) for communication with the fire department. The fire chief can assist with the situation himself and decide on the response based on his own evaluation.
