Location: Helsinki and Tampere, Finland
Job description
Hi developer! Would you like to work for a growth company striving for internationalization? How would you feel about developing software related to crisis management and security? If this sounds interesting to you, keep reading!
We at NSION’s product development team are looking for a full stack expert to develop our communication platform used for critical safety operations.
What kind of job is this?
As a full stack developer, you will work with our NSC3 platform and its development. NSC3 is a video and data transmission platform which enables fast and efficient communication and task management between the field and the control room during tactical safety operations.
Our service provider in Finland is Suomen Erillisverkot, through which our platform (https://www.erillisverkot.fi/palvelut/ryhmavideopalvelu/) is currently used by public safety authorities. We are aiming for substantial growth, and cannot wait to expand our business internationally.
Your tasks and responsibilities will be related to the development of our platform, but the role is not fixed yet. Your area of responsibility will be tailored to suit your expertise and interests, and you will get to work on your own project that matches your skill set. You will have the freedom to work on the project relatively independently, but the rest of the team is always there to help you. Regardless of your experience level, we guarantee that you will meet plenty of technological challenges and learning opportunities. Due to the nature of our customer base, we also pay close attention to information security, so we hope that the topic piques your interest, as well.
In our work, we use the following languages and technologies: Kotlin, Quarkus, Postgres, Redis, TypeScript, React, Redux, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure and Kotlin and Swift on mobile.
How do we work?
NSION is a growing company with 25 employees.
We plan the objectives of our dev team for approximately one month at a time. The one-month plan is split into developers’ own areas of responsibility, on which they work in a way that they best see fit. Each of us works quite independently, because we believe our experts know best how things should be done. However, this does not mean that you will be left alone with the most difficult tasks. Our team members are happy to help each other when needed, and we use code reviews to ensure not only code quality but also mutual learning.
We work at our Tampere office approximately three days a week. Hybrid working is supported, which means that the rest of the week can be remote work. If you live far from Tampere, we hope that you would be able to be present in the Tampere office at least once a week.
What do we have to offer?
✅ A challenging job that makes a difference: you are building software that helps to save lives.
✅ A possibility to influence your responsibilities both now and later on. When you start working with us, you won’t have to dive into an already existing piece of software, but instead you will get the chance to present your skills by working on your own development project.
✅ A competitive salary that will be negotiated together with you during the recruitment process. We want to pay you fair compensation in return for the expertise you bring to our team.
And what do we expect from you?
Ideally you already have a few years of experience as a full stack developer. The most important thing for us, however, is your ability to learn new skills. Hence, you can also be a junior developer who has got software development experience from e.g. studies, hobbies or voluntary projects.
The technologies we use are listed above. Knowledge of those technologies is an asset but not required – we believe that your previous experience will help you to get to know our tech stack. Experience in Java, Python and/or Node forms a good basis.
As we collaborate a lot with each other, we expect you to have good communication skills. Our working language is English.
How do we proceed?
If we have caught your attention and you feel like you could be a new member of our team, please apply very soon via duunitori job site.
If you want to talk about the position or NSION in more detail, our CTO Juho (+358 50 414 7161 or juho.blankenstein@nsion.fi) will be happy to tell you more.
This is how the process will continue:
📅 Apply no later than 26 October. We will process the applications as they come in.
☎️ The first discussion will be held on the phone. The idea is to get to know each other a little better and talk about the expectations on both sides.
🧑💻 After the phone interview you will meet us for a technical interview, during which we will talk about your technical skills and knowledge in more detail. No live or whiteboard coding is done during this step. If necessary, small homework is assigned to you.
💬 On the third discussion you will meet your future team members. The objective is to find out if our ways of working fit together.
🔎 The last step of the process is a standard security clearance conducted by the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (more information can be found on the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service website).
